Anchors and Ink Tattoo Studio plans to open a Portland tattoo school to expand our tattoo artist training program throughout the state of Oregon. Anchors and Ink Tattoo School combines the talents of Oregon-based tattoo artists in a clean and modern studio setting. Kristopher “KJ” Brown founded Anchors and Ink Tattoo Studio in 2009 and started the school portion of the business in 2017. We proudly offer a Portland tattoo school and permanent makeup program. KJ and the Anchors and Ink team share their wealth of experience and talent with tattoo apprentices and students.
Tattoo apprentice training at Anchors and Ink includes 210 hours of theory and 150 practical hours. Each tattoo apprentice completes a minimum of 360 hours of training and 50 apprentice tattoos before they are eligible for Oregon state tattoo certification. This training allows all of the artists who complete the program to have the necessary credentials to become a state-licensed tattoo artist upon completion of the State Board Exam.
By completing these disciplines, students will leave Anchors and Ink with an in-depth understanding of the tattoo industry, state laws, health and sanitation, safety, art and design, tattoo equipment and business operations. Artists completing the Oregon tattoo school program or microblading program at Anchors and Ink leave with a robust portfolio they can use to find future employment opportunities.
